Objectivity and Impartiality

Discussed topics

At this time all animes, mangas and light novels discussed on https://www.anime-talk.com are the personal property of the author, obtained using the personal funds of the author (or viewed/read through a legal streaming method).

It should, however, be clarified that the author is not against the idea of reviewing and providing information about a certain topic for a certain anime/manga/light novel delivered to the author at no cost if the product in question is deemed to be a good fit for the site by the author. This is due to the fact the author believes to have built a professional attitude of objectivity over the course of years. This information is provided to you as a full disclosure however, in case your opinion differs.

All content on this site may potentially have one or more affiliation links contained in them. These affiliation links will qualify the author for a commission if you buy any products on the sites they lead to within a certain timeframe. The author is of the opinion that this fact does not affect his impartiality, but this information is shared with you never the less as a full disclosure, in case your opinion on the matter differs.

It is also worth noting that, objectivity aside, different animes/mangas/light novels are a match for different people. What may be a good fit for the author may not be a good fit for you. Potential buyers are advised to gather as much information as possible from multiple different resources before making any purchase.

Use of images and videos

All images and videos used on the site are used under the Fair Use Policy, respecting its multiple pillars:

1. Materials are not used as is but are transformed into new content, such as:

  • Reviews of work
  • Opinion pieces meant for entertainment
  • Comparisons between different pieces of fiction with the intent of helping users discover new material
  • Answering of questions which were not answered directly in the source materials

All of these have the goal of adding new insights, information, and understandings not present in the source material.

2. The amount of material used is limited, the nature of it is not the core

The amount of material used under the “Fair Use” policy serves to prove points made by my own content and to break the text a little, making for a more enjoyable read. Not much is used in comparison to the amount of own created content. In addition, effort is made to focus on details not so obvious in the original work, rather than a focus on its most memorable moments. In other words, the “core” of the original source work is not used and users not familiar with the work will still need to purchase the original to comprehend the content.

3. There is no negative effect on the market

The content on this site has the goal to enrichen the experience of the user. This can either be by discussing source material the user is familiar with or by making comparisons between source material the user is familiar with and other source material the user is not yet familiar with. Neither of those options replaces the source material. To follow and take advantage of the original content on this site, users must already have a grasp of the source content and are thus at worst not stopped from buying it. They may even be encouraged to buy further additional source material).

4. The purpose of the material used under Fair Use is not to generate profit

Although the site features ads and affiliate links (disclosed above), the material used under Fair Use is not meant to generate profit. It is the original content on the site as well as the specific content of the Ads and affiliate links (which do not use material under Fair Use) that are for profit.

5. No Copyright Infringement Intended

Although this is normally used as an empty claim, it is not used as such here. Despite my best efforts to follow Fair Use, give credit where credit is due and the intent to support rather than obstruct the series discussed on this site, Fair Use is a grey area. If any copyright holders feel that the above precautions are insufficient and that their material not a valid case of Fair Use, they can always contact john@anime-talk.com to discuss this or even have their images/videos removed. I will gladly work with everyone involved in the series I love to make sure they are ok with the way their material is covered. Just don’t remove my hard worked materials with the use of majorly flawed bots – any such attempt will be severely resisted.
